A welcome update is coming to Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows that should make using the service a bit more bearable.
The company revealed that its video conferencing platform will be updated to make it more seamless across services, as well as an aesthetic overhaul to make Microsoft Teams Rooms more visually appealing.
In a blog post (opens in a new tab) announcing the news, Microsoft says the move will mean “key UI elements” will be aligned across the Windows and Android ecosystems, making the entire platform smoother and easier to use.
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows
Updates that make Microsoft Teams Rooms (opens in a new tab) in Windows version 4.16, will present users with a brand new look for the platform, including “new vibrant ambient screens” and a revamped calendar view that shows upcoming appointments for the day as well as detailing when the room is available.
Microsoft says it has also updated a number of buttons on the Teams Room console to make the most used features faster and easier to access. This includes the placement of Meet, Call, Share and Join buttons with ID buttons on the front and center, eliminating the need to navigate through lengthy menus.
Users will also be able to customize the look and feel of Teams Room to their liking with a range of customization options available.
This includes a range of ambient screens to choose from, with five new themes added to the eight currently available themes. The front of the room display shown during a meeting can also be customized to any required specification with an updated view switcher menu interface that includes the option to view content and people or people only.
Users will also be able to customize the Front Row view of the meeting, including meeting chat visibility, as well as choose which meeting item is displayed in the left and right panes.
Microsoft says the updates will be generally available by the end of Q1 2023.
