on the eve Samsung Unpacked 2023 event, many leaked photos of the upcoming Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra smartphones have appeared online. We cover all the Galaxy S23 news on our Samsung Galaxy S23 event live blog (opens in a new tab).
The photos are from Twitter user Dylan Xitton (opens in a new tab) who discovered the devices in a Chilean electronics store. It looks like some retailers are showing off the phones a day before the official reveal on February 1.
Of course I have an extra handful of photos here, Chilean mobile operator (Wom) said the phone will be released in Chile in 1 month, I was surprised to see lmao on the shelf pic.twitter.com/07ga0Ob9OPJanuary 31, 2023
The user reportedly posted a video of himself handling the S23 Ultra, but it has since been deleted by Twitter after Samsung filed a copyright claim on the footage. So all we’re left with are images of lines from different angles.
Galaxy S23 Ultra
These images give us a glimpse into some of the S23 Ultra’s hardware. The marketing table reveals that the phone will come with a 6.8-inch qHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) screen and at least four cameras. We can spy on the packaging of at least two of the rumored colors: Phantom Black and Botanic Green.
On the surface, the phone looks very similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but by Dylan Xitton (opens in a new tab)there is a slight difference. He claims that the screen on the S23 Ultra is not as curved compared to the S22 Ultra, and the new device has more pronounced edges. The user goes on to say that writing notes is more comfortable on the S23 Ultra
Adding truth
We know so much about the hardware of the Galaxy S23 but very little about the software
For the other two models, there is no new information. Much of what Dylan Xitton showed in his photos was nothing new the specification of the Galaxy S23 line has recently leaked already disclosed the information contained therein. If anything, the Twitter thread basically confirms the spec sheet.
It’s a bit disappointing that we haven’t peaked any of the new features Samsung is bringing to the Galaxy S23 lineup. The company has improved recently night shots on S23 Ultra and new Pro mode for selfies. Nothing about new gaming features or a special partnership with Google. We know so much about the hardware of the Galaxy S23 but very little about the software.
Everything will be revealed soon. If you want to know what Samsung’s new flagship phone is bringing to the market, be sure to check it out TechRadar coverage for the Galaxy S23.
